EMDR therapy sessions in Paris
Some experiences leave deep marks that can impact your daily life. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an effective therapy for treating and alleviating the effects of past traumatic events on your life.
I am a licensed psychologist and psychotherapist trained in this therapeutic approach and my office is located in the Paris's 15th arrondissement. Together, we will develop a personalized therapy plan to help you overcome those challenging experiences that have been holding you back from fully thriving.

What is EMDR therapy?
EMDR is one of the few therapies recognized by the WHO for treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) using bilateral brain stimulation.
Developed by Francine Shapiro in the 1980s, this method enables psychologists to work with difficult memories that have been stored in a dysfunctional manner. This technique relies on the brain's natural ability to heal psychological wounds, much like the body heals physical injuries.
Through guided eye movements or other forms of stimulation, EMDR helps reduce the negative emotional and cognitive impact of traumatic memories.
Who can benefit from EMDR therapy sessions?
EMDR therapy sessions are recommended for adults who wish to free themselves of the impact difficult experiences continue to have on their daily lives.
Whether you've experienced a specific traumatic event or suffer from anxiety following a challenging period in your life, this approach can help you regain your emotional balance.
Treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress
EMDR is particularly indicated for individuals suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) resulting from any distressing event.
Sessions with an EMDR psychologist can help reduce daily emotional disturbances, such as flashbacks, nightmares, and anxious reactions associated with the trauma.
Childhood trauma
Difficult childhood experiences profoundly impact our daily lives. EMDR helps address these memories gently, in order to change related behavioral and emotional patterns.
Anxiety disorders and depression
EMDR therapy can also be recommended for anxiety disorders, phobias, and depressive states. By working on the experiences at the root of these disorders, it is possible to restore a sense of security and self-confidence.

Everyone seeks out a psychologist for their own unique reasons. I practice EMDR therapy with attentive and compassionate listening, adapting to your pace and working with you to develop an approach that suits your needs.
You are welcomed in my office, located near the Montparnasse and Pasteur stations, in a calm and confidential setting by appointment on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

How does EMDR therapy work?
EMDR therapy follows a structured eight-phase protocol, all while adapting to each person's pace and needs. You will not have to talk about anything that is too difficult, nor directly confront yourself to the trauma.
During the initial sessions, we take time to explore what is troubling you, current challenges, and therapeutic goals together. We then implement emotional stabilization exercises to help you better manage any emotions that might arise during treatment and in your daily life.
The desensitization phase uses eye movements to allow the brain to reprocess traumatic memories. This phase is a key part of the psychotherapeutic process, helping to integrate the progress made and identify any potential difficulties.
Each session ends with a return to calm moment and a time to debrief.

After an EMDR session: What you need to know
After a session with an EMDR psychologist, it is normal to experience certain emotions, sometimes intense, in the days that follow. This is a sign that your brain is continuing its healing work. We can address these emotions in the next session if needed, so you can be best equipped to manage them.
How many sessions should I plan for?
The duration of EMDR therapy varies according to individual needs and the issues being addressed. Simple traumas may require about five sessions, while more complex issues or multiple traumas might need longer psychological support. The first step in our sessions is to establish a therapeutic plan tailored to your needs.
Is EMDR therapy covered by Social Security?
EMDR sessions are not reimbursed by Social Security. However, some private health insurance plans may cover part of the consultation fees.
